steel shot wads
To reload shotshells, you will need wads. They pack the hull tight to prevent the shot and powder from moving around. They prevent the powder from touching the shot, shield the shot from the hot gases, and seal the gases behind the shot so that it can be propelled down the barrel. The wad has a double purpose: it prevents soft shot from being damaged by contact with hard barrel steel and it prevents hard shot from damaging the barrel.
