h4831sc
Handloaders typically use Hodgdon’s Extreme Series extruded powder H4831 for hunting big game.
This propellant was first introduced by Bruce “B.E.” Hodgdon in 1950, and since then it has become a favorite for use in cartridges such as the 270 Winchester, 25-06 Remington, 280 Remington, and 300 Winchester Magnum.
Similar to H4831 in terms of ballistics, this extreme extruded powder is incorporated into H4831SC. Short-cut derives its name from the smaller grain size that characterizes its physical properties. Powder can flow more easily through the measuring device because the shorter, more compact kernels don’t require constant cutting. Increased loading density and more uniform charge weights are the results of tighter grain orientation, both of which are made possible by the enhanced flow characteristics.
h4831sc
As an Extreme extruded propellant, it shares the fine quality of insensitivity to hot and cold temperatures, as well as superb uniformity from lot to lot.
Available in 1 lb. and 8 lb. containers.
